The Connecticut Foundation for Environmentally Safe Schools serves as our state liaison to a national network of organizations coordinated by the Healthy Schools Network (www.healthyschools.org). ConnFESS helped to write the National Coalition Position Statement for Healthier Schools. This document outlines priority steps officials at federal, state and local levels need to take in order to improve the environmental quality of our schools.
Many prominent national organizations such as the National Education Association, American Public Health Association, National P.T.A., Children's Environmental Health Coalition (CHEC), Center for Health, Environment and Justice (CHEJ) and American Lung Association were part of this national coalition which produced the position statement.
In Connecticut, numerous organizations and individuals have already endorsed this position statement. Some of these organizations include:
Whether you are a student, parent, educator, administrator, facilities manager, board of education member, superintendent or concerned citizen, we encourage you to endorse this document.
